India Day Proclamation by Gwinnett County

India is turning 70 this year. It is a matter of Pride for all Indians and people of Indian Origin that Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners have declared “August 15th” to be recognized as “India Day” in Gwinnett County.
Join us as we honor the contributions of indian Americans in our Community! This event will include a formal recognition and proclamation presentation from the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners.

India Independence Day is observed annually on August 15, is a national holiday in India commemorating the nation’s independence from British rule on 15 August 1947. India attained freedom following an independence movement noted for largely nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience led by the Indian National Congress.
